The computer science engineer has been credited with making significant contributions to the original iPod projects, after unsuccessfully pitching the concept of a hard-drive-based music player to his previous employers at Real Networks….

Several key changes are planned for iTunes 9.1, says a source claiming to be familiar with the update. The biggest of these is e-book support, essential for the iPad; as a result, the software should be out by or before Saturday’s iPad launch. The change is expected to affect all iTunes users, however, in that it will create a central “Books” section merging both e-books and audiobooks, with its own management options….

Microsoft today inadvertently revealed a 64GB version of the Zune HD. While not yet active, the new capacity is listed on Microsoft’s own site and is likely to be made official soon. Pricing didn’t accompany the leak, but it follows after official price drops and Dell lowering the 32GB version down to $199….
